About Me
Hi, I’m Naomi (she/her), a Black Queer therapist and a Master Social Worker. I support folks navigating grief, chronic illness, life transitions, and identity at the intersections of queerness, race, disability, and neurodivergence. I earned my Master of Social Work from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work, where I was a Zelda Foster Fellow in End-of-Life and Palliative Care. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Literature and Studio Art from Sarah Lawrence College, reflecting my love of the creative process of making meaning. Outside of therapy, I’m usually hanging out with my wife and our cat, knitting baby blankets for friends, or deep in a reality TV binge.
Specialties
I specialize in supporting folks navigating grief and bereavement, especially those dealing with caregiving or end-of-life transitions. I have a strong background in working with older adults, as well as people living with chronic illness, disability, and pain. I’m passionate about holding space for clients moving through big life shifts, whether that’s identity exploration, relationship changes, or adjusting to new roles. Much of my work centers people at the intersections of race, queerness, neurodivergence, and illness. I am also especially interested in supporting clients in the kink community and/or with lived experience in sex work as I bring a nonjudgmental, affirming approach and a deep respect for the wisdom people carry in their bodies and lives. I strive to offer a space where you don’t have to shrink yourself and where your story is met with care, curiosity, and consent.
Therapeutic approaches
My approach is relational, person-centered, and liberation-focused. I’m committed to creating an affirming space where you don’t have to shrink yourself. I draw from narrative therapy to explore the stories that shape us, mindfulness to support presence and self-awareness, and liberation-based therapy to acknowledge the broader systems impacting our lives. My approach is culturally grounded and trauma-informed, with a deep respect for your lived experience, your intuition, and your right to take up space. Together, we’ll explore what healing looks like for you: with room for honesty, humor, and slowness. Below are some of the treatment modalities and theories I use in my therapeutic practice:
